March 14 is
internationally recognized for celebration of the mathematical constant Pi (π) which represents the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Pi continues indefinitely (=3.1415926535…), but is commonly abbreviated to 3.14, and thus celebrated on 3/14.
Because IL Science Council loves all things related to science, technology, engineering and math, this is our FAVORITE HOLIDAY! ISC asked Chicago area bakeries and restaurants to offer specials this Sunday, March 14 to acknowledge the importance of pi in our lives by celebrating with tasty pie specials. We are pleased to announce this year’s participating establishments:
