Beyond the Price at the Pump:
A Comprehensive Energy Roadmap

Presented by Shirley Ann Jackson, Ph.D.
Thursday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the
Museum of Science and Industry.

Dr. JacksonDr. Jackson is currently the President of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York and the former Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.  Dr. Jackson's presentation "Beyond the Price at the Pump: A Comprehensive Energy Roadmap," will address one of today's most critical issues--our current energy crisis.  With global demand for energy skyrocketing, the price of oil, coal, and electricity following suit, and concern that certain fuel alternatives will compete with global food production, the energy landscape is complex. Dr Jackson will speak to--and unravel--this global complexity, explore the emerging global energy picture, and define key principles to govern a comprehensive energy policy that can lead us to a secure energy future.

Described by Time magazine as “perhaps the ultimate role model for women in science,” Dr. Jackson has held senior leadership positions in government, industry, research and academia. She will discuss the current energy crisis, and how the U.S. can maintain its competitiveness by engaging more American students from diverse backgrounds in science and technology careers.
