Northwestern Climate Change Symposium
May 16, 2014Free
4th Annual Northwestern Climate Change Symposium:
“The Future of Carbon”
** FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC**
The development of reliable knowledge about climate change and related topics is challenging given the volume of conflicting opnions that saturate our information byways. The main goal of the Northwestern Climate Change Symposium is to bring expert speakers to campus who can deliver up-to-date and accessible information to members of the Northwestern, Evanston, and Chicago-area communities. We vary the specific focus of each symposium in order to cover a broad range of topics.
The speakers for the 2014 Symposium include experts on shale gas and fracking, geological storage of CO2, carbon capture and transport, biological carbon sequestration, geothermal use of supercritical carbon, and the overall technical and political challenges of carbon management. A fitting title for this collection of talks seemed to be “The Future of Carbon.” We look forward to hearing from our group of distingusihed scholars in order to improve our understanding of these important and often controversial topics.
Please join this event for the entire day, or come by for just one talk – whatever your schedule permits.
For a tentative schedule and more information, please visit the Symposium’s website.
RSVP is not necessary but would be helpful.
