Evolution: What the Fossils Say and Why it Matters

Creationism and "intelligent design" have become hot topics in the news lately, yet most people don't really understand the issues. In many cases, they make claims that the fossil record does not support the idea of evolution. In this talk, Dr. Donald R. Prothero of Occidental College and Caltech will discuss the "New Creationism" of "intelligent design", and focus especially on the enormous amount of evidence from the fossil record of "transitional forms" that shows how evolution occurred.
The lecture will be a wonderful opportunity for students, educators, and the general public, and will be followed by a book signing with Don for his recent book of the same title.
The talk is part of the A. Watson Armour Seminar Series, which is the museum's weekly research seminar series, with talks taking place at noon on Wednesdays.
